Extra curricular activities

Students at The Forest High School benefit from an outstanding range of educational, sporting and cultural opportunities.

Exceptional programs in music and the creative and performing arts allow students to develop their self confidence, independence and self esteem.

Extending and enriching academic opportunities challenge and motivate students to higher levels of learning.

Exposure to new experiences and opportunities expand students' horizons and opens new pathways for their future.

Clubs and activities

A wide range of clubs and activities are on offer at The Forest High School including: 

  • Beyond the Bell Homework Club with Mrs Coleman.  All students are welcome. Help with homework & assessments. Thursday 3-4pm in the school library. Week A - Years 7 & 8, Week B - Years 9 & 10. Seniors can use the upstairs area both weeks.
  • Maths Help Desk - the Maths Help Desk is held every Friday lunchtime in E1007.  All welcome
  • Choir - Choir will be resuming in Term 2
  • Dance Ensemble - will be resuming Term 2 - more details to come
  • Concert Band - Monday morning at 7.15am -  8.30am in the Hall
  • Wind Ensemble - Tuesday morning at 7.15am - 8.30am in the Hall
  • Stage Band - Wednesday afternoon at 3pm - 4pm G Block outdoor space
  • Dungeons & Dragons - Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes in the Learning Hub
  • Yarning Circle - Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes - come along for a knit and chat - in the shade at southern end of E Block or E0013 if wet
  • Debating/Public Speaking - Thursday lunchtime - see Ms Bancroft, English Faculty in A Block
  • Art Club - lunch times as required - see Mr McGrath in the CAPA staff room
  • Conversation Club - Tuesday lunchtimes in the DBLC. Come along for a chat and to listen to some interesting guest speakers
  • Chess Club - Friday lunchtime with Mr Goodwin and Ms Roberts in G0001. Other games available too.
  • Textiles Workshop - with Ms Aroyan - fun and collaborative. For existing Textiles students or just come along and get creative if you' re interested in design.
  • Forest Fitness - come along for a workout with Mr Lawler and Mr Barbat at 7.30am every Friday morning - a great way to finish the week
  • EALD Homework Club - Wednesday lunchtime with Ms Weatherall
  • Interact Club - Friday lunchtime with Mr Argue - learn leadership skills and become involved in community projects
  • School 'Zine - Monday lunchtime A Week in A1022 - news/art/events for the school magazine with Ms May in English
  • Duke of Edinburgh - see Mrs Coleman in the Learning Hub if interested
  • Year 7 - various activities throughout the week

Concert Band and Wind Ensemble

Concert Band

The Concert Band is our main performance ensemble. It is directed by Ms Lemin Luu. The Forest High School has a long standing reputation for excellence in music and the performing arts. The current Concert Band continues the tradition with a record of recent triumphs in band competitions and successful tours. The Concert Band performs throughout the year including numerous school and community functions.

The Concert Band rehearses once a week on Monday morning from 7.15am - 8.30am

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is our entry band for all Year 7 students.  Also conducted by Ms Lemin Luu, it comprises of students from Year 7 to 9 working towards a successful audition and gaining a position in the Concert Band.  This ensemble performs throughout the year at school and community events, as well as participates in workshops and tours.

The Wind Ensemble rehearses once a week on Tuesday morning from 7.15am - 8.30am

Our Stage Band rehearses once a week on a Wednesday afternoon from 3pm - 4pm
