We are pleased to announce that applications to the Forest Sports Academy 2026 squad begins in Week 4 Term 4 2025.
The Forest Sports Academy is offered to students enrolled at The Forest High School who are identified as being either gifted or demonstrate high potential in either an individual or team sport.
We are currently accepting applications for a total of 20 positions in this program for students in Years 7 –10. There is a selection process to take part in the program.
The selection process
Students will trial for the available positions in accordance with the below criteria:
- Apply by completing the Google Form by Sunday 16 November
- Students may be asked to attend an informal interview with the panel.
- Provide evidence of their sporting journey.
- Perform to a high standard in two general fitness tests. Testing will take place on Tuesday 18 November – Stage 4 – Periods 1 and 2, Stage 5 – Period 3
- Commitment to training on two mornings each week at 7:30am.
As a member of the program, students will be offered the following:
- One fitness sessions per week coordinated by the PDHPE department.
- One educational workshop per fortnight from TFHS staff and guest presenters.
- Training programs to help students work towards individual sporting goals, for example, qualify for zone, regional, and/or state competitions
- Use of fitness equipment: such as the fitness studio, cardio boxing, and circuit training.
- Feedback and evaluation regarding individual performances and progress.
There is a fee associated with the program, and this will be issued on acceptance into the program. These fees are required for resourcing this extra-curricular initiative. Students are also required to seek sponsorship from a business in the local community.
